Baseball Recap: Maricopa Comes Up Short

Maricopa's last matchup with Vista Grande could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Rams wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Maricopa saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Travis Varela, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Varela has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Sebastian Lopez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Maricopa's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Vista Grande, the victory snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 10-10-1 record.

Coming up, Vista Grande will head out to challenge Mesquite at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maricopa will be paying especially close attention to the Spartans' game: after the Spartans faces off against the Wildcats, they'll take on Maricopa again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
