Baseball Game Preview: North Penn Knights vs. Spring-Ford Rams

The North Penn Knights will take on the Spring-Ford Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. North Penn will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Saturday, North Penn needed a bit of extra time to put away Hazleton Area. They had just enough and edged out the Cougars 8-7. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.

Trey Brennan looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, North Penn let Logan Waynick and Joshua Martinell run wild. Waynick scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4, while Martinell scored a run while going 2-for-4. Ben Grattan was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Spring-Ford had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of Arvada West by a score of 1-0 on Monday.

Spring-Ford also got a good showing from Ethan Freed, who struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Freed has posted since back in April of 2024.

North Penn's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Spring-Ford, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

North Penn came out on top in a nail-biter against Spring-Ford in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Penn since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
