Baseball Game Preview: Castaic Coyotes vs. Saugus Centurions

For the second straight game, Castaic will face off against Saugus. The Coyotes will head out to take on the Centurions at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Castaic has four straight wins, Saugus has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Castaic came out on top against Saugus on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Coyotes walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Centurions.

Chad Kober made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Orion Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

Castaic pushed their record up to 17-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Saugus, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Castaic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Saugus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
