Baseball Game Preview: Richwood Lumberjacks vs. Liberty Raiders

Richwood is 2-7 against Liberty since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Richwood will be playing at home against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. Richwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Richwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Greenbrier West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Richwood was the clear victor by a 15-4 margin over Greenbrier West on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lumberjacks needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Parker Giles made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Jaden Jantuah was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Hall, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Richwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenbrier West only posted a batting average of .176.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Liberty was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of Greenbrier West by a score of 3-2.

Richwood's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Liberty, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.
