Baseball Recap: Compton Tarbabes vs. Cabrillo Jaguars
Compton extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 13-8. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cabrillo Jaguars. The Tarbabes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 6-4.
Compton saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Ruiz, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
As for Cabrillo, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 10-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since February 20th.
On Cabrillo's side, Ricky Barron was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Barron has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Bendito Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Compton is set to take on their familiar foe Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Cabrillo will face off against rival Long Beach Poly at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
