Softball Recap: Pine Grove Wins Going Away Against Byers

While Pine Grove put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Byers. The Pine Grove Panthers put the hurt on the Byers Lions with a sharp 19-0 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Memory Mauney made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anaston Christian, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Lyndi Holloway also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Pine Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .714. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pine Grove pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Byers, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Pine Grove will have a chance to go back-to-back against Byers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
