Softball Game Preview: New Braunfels Unicorns vs. Boerne-Champion Chargers

The New Braunfels Unicorns will head out on the road to take on the Boerne-Champion Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Braunfels is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for New Braunfels' offense. They lost 10-0 to Smithson Valley on Tuesday. That makes it the first time this season the Unicorns have let down their home crowd.

Meanwhile, Boerne-Champion posted their closest victory since February 28th on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Pieper 12-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Chargers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Boerne-Champion's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for New Braunfels, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-7.

New Braunfels was able to grind out a solid victory over Boerne-Champion in their previous matchup back in March, winning 10-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Unicorns since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
