Basketball Recap: Jaden Lewis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Franklin Academy over East Bladen

Franklin Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 58-44 to the East Bladen Eagles. The match marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Franklin Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaden Lewis, who posted nine points. What's more, Lewis also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in February. Micah Rutledge was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 15 boards.

Even though they lost, Franklin Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Franklin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for East Bladen, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Franklin Academy is taking a road trip to take on North Johnston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season. As for East Bladen, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Pender at 7:30 p.m.
