Softball Game Preview: Lunenburg Central Chargers vs. Buckingham Knights

The Lunenburg Central Chargers are taking a road trip to take on the Buckingham Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Lunenburg Central sitting on eight straight wins and Buckingham on three.

Lunenburg Central came out on top against Southampton on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Chargers never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Ten seems to be a good number for the Chargers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Buckingham made easy work of Amelia County on Tuesday and carried off a 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lunenburg Central's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Buckingham, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Everything went Lunenburg Central's way against Buckingham in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Lunenburg Central made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
