Softball Recap: Garey Vikings vs. Azusa Aztecs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Covina, Garey was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Azusa Aztecs 7-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Miley Diaz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Micaela Ortiz, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Noelli Szabo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
