Softball Game Preview: Space Coast Vipers vs. Heritage Panthers

Space Coast has gone 7-2 against Heritage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Vipers will take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Space Coast's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Heritage's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Wednesday, Space Coast was able to grind out a solid victory over Titusville, taking the game 7-3. The win continues a trend for the Vipers in their matchups with the Terriers: they've now won seven in a row.

Kylie Ulmer made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addilyn Orrick-Cole, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Minear, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against Cocoa Beach, falling 14-3.

Space Coast's record is now 9-6. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Everything went Space Coast's way against Heritage in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Space Coast made off with a 19-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vipers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
