Softball Recap: Calvert Comes Up Short

Calvert extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 5-5. They lost 9-1 to the La Plata Warriors. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for La Plata, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For La Plata's part, Leah Buck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Buck has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chloe Sullivan was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Quade, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Calvert is set to take on their familiar foe Chopticon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, La Plata will square off against rival Thomas Stone at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
