Baseball Game Preview: River Road Wildcats vs. Tulia Hornets

River Road is 8-2 against Tulia since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The River Road Wildcats will square off against the Tulia Hornets at 1:00 p.m. River Road is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, River Road earned a 14-10 win over West Texas.

The team relied heavily on Seth Underwood, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Josh Henderson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Tulia hadn't done well against Idalou recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Everything went Tulia's way against Idalou as Tulia made off with a 9-3 victory. Considering the Hornets have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Zach Trevino was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Becerra, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Tulia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-1 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.7 runs. The win got River Road back to even at 4-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. River Road has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tulia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

River Road skirted past Tulia 10-9 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for River Road since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
