Baseball Recap: Maine Central Institute Drops Highest Score of Season Against Penquis Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maine Central Institute). They put the hurt on the Penquis Valley Patriots with a sharp 15-5 win on Tuesday. The Huskies not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 13, 2024 (when they won 12-2).

Brayden Badger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Caleb Kennedy was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Karlin Mack also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Maine Central Institute's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8. As for Penquis Valley, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maine Central Institute will welcome Erskine Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Penquis Valley, they will host Greenville at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots are facing the Lakers at the right time seeing as the Lakers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
