League recap: Mt. Whitney receives boost in rankings after winning week

West Yosemite league recap: 5/29/12

Behind a 1-1 record over the past week, Mt. Whitney made the biggest jump in the California state rankings, all the way from 411 to 327.

Nick Pate was on fire this week, as he led West Yosemite with a 1.000 average, one home run and three RBIs. Lemoore compiled a record of 0-1 in that time.

The Tigers' pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only seven hits and two walks, both of which led the league. Lemoore has given up a mere 211 hits on the year, while striking out 192 opposing hitters. Justin Farrar is the leader in that category with 64 Ks on the season.

Garces' Justin Farrar threw seven shutout innings in a 6-5 win over Lemoore on Tuesday. He struck out nine, allowing one hits.
