Basketball Recap: Colonial Comes Up Short

Colonial lost against Lake Highland Prep back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Colonial Grenadiers were dealt a 61-28 loss at the hands of the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders. The Grenadiers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Yaneyla Pedraza was Colonial's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Iliana Dorvilus took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Lake Highland Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eadyn Rivera out in front who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Rivera has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Myanna Hatchette, who posted ten points and three steals.

Colonial's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Lake Highland Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-11.

Colonial will head out on the road to square off against Ocoee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ocoee will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Colonial surely won't give up without a fight. Lake Highland Prep has already played their next contest (against Tampa Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
