Baseball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Dundee, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trojans fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 10-8 on Friday. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Brian Dopp was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Madison's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 19-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brooks Horwath, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Dundee, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, Madison and Dundee will both be playing Hudson the next time they take the field. The Vikings will head out to face the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Trojans will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
