Baseball Recap: Riverdale Takes a Loss

Riverdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mineral Point Pointers. The Chieftains were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pointers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Chase Chitwood was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mineral Point, they pushed their record up to 2-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverdale will host Ithaca at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mineral Point, they will square off against Belleville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
