Recap: Staples Wreckers vs. Ridgefield Tigers

On Friday, the Staples Wreckers faced the Ridgefield Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Staples fell just short of Ridgefield by a score of 48-46. Staples' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Staples lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adam Udell. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Sam Clachko was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.

Staples' loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1. As for Ridgefield, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Staples will head out on the road to face off against New Canaan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Canaan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Staples is ranked seventh). As for Ridgefield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bridgeport Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bridgeport Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Ridgefield likes a good challenge.
