Baseball Recap: Westside Finds Playoff Glory Versus Greer

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Westside walked away with it. They came out on top against the Greer Yellow Jackets by a score of 8-5 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rams as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Westside got a great performance from Colter Crosby as he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Crosby has become a key player for the Rams: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 9-14 otherwise.

At the plate, Brody Caudle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Westside's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 5-1 (and 6-14 when he doesn't). Jacob Holmes was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Westside's victory bumped their record up to 11-15. As for Greer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.
