Basketball Preview: Savannah Country Day Hornets vs. Calvary Day Cavaliers
Savannah Country Day and the Cavaliers are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Savannah Country Day Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Calvary Day Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Georgia (Savannah Country Day is ranked 155th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 139th).
Last Friday, Savannah Country Day lost to the Eagles on the road by a decisive 55-39 margin.
Meanwhile, Calvary Day had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 82-51 win over Groves on the road. Calvary Day's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Calvary Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bre Jones, who scored 11 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Da'Maris Shields, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Savannah Country Day's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Calvary Day, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Savannah Country Day skirted past the Cavaliers 46-44 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Savannah Country Day since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
