Softball Recap: Oneonta Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Oneonta's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Etowah Blue Devils on Thursday. The Redskins haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Ali Such spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oneonta saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aleigha Rhetta, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.

Oneonta's loss dropped their record down to 11-17. As for Etowah, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-15.

Coming up, Oneonta will take on Douglas at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Redskins will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Etowah, they will take on Scottsboro in a tournament on Friday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
