DeSoto Central put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout  on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the West Union Eagles  a   6-0 shutout. The Jaguars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.
Not much got past  Colby Young, who gave up just  five  hits and racked up eight Ks to keep West Union off the board. Young has been consistent : she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in five consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, DeSoto Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Darby Smith, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
DeSoto Central is  on a roll lately: they've  won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for West Union, they moved to 13-9 with that  loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
 Looking ahead, DeSoto Central will welcome Southaven  at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday. West Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
