Basketball Recap: New Home's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

New Home waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Floydada Whirlwinds 49-30. Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Whirlwinds are ranked 620th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Home is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points per game. As for Floydada, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, New Home and Floydada will both be playing New Deal the next time they take the court. Floydada will head out to face New Deal at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while New Home will host them at 6:15 p.m. on January 10th.
