Baseball Game Preview: Searcy Lions vs. Benton Panthers

Searcy is 0-7 against Benton since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Searcy Lions challenge Benton Panthers at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Tuesday, Searcy needed a bit of extra time to put away Nettleton. They had just enough and edged out the Raiders 2-1. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Benton posted their closest victory since May 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Greenbrier 3-2.

Benton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Searcy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Searcy came up short against Benton in their previous meeting back in March, falling 3-0. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
