Baseball Recap: Scotts Valley Comes Up Short

The matchup between Scotts Valley and Palma on Saturday hardly resembled the 3-1 effort from their previous meeting. Scotts Valley fell 14-9 to Palma. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Chieftains when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kit Deforest made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Clayton Pryor, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Scotts Valley is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7. As for Palma, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Looking ahead, Scotts Valley will welcome Soquel at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Scotts Valley's pitchers better be ready for this one: Soquel has averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Palma, they will challenge Monterey at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palma is facing Monterey at the right time seeing as Monterey is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
