Basketball Game Preview: Buckley Griffins vs. Holy Martyrs Armenian Armens

The Buckley Griffins will venture away from home to square off against the Holy Martyrs Armenian Armens at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Buckley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Thursday, Buckley took their matchup with ease, bagging a 74-34 victory over Le Lycee. Given the Griffins' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 460th, while the Lions are ranked 1022nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holy Martyrs Armenian). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat de Toledo 74-46. The Armens have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.

Buckley is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Holy Martyrs Armenian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

Buckley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Holy Martyrs Armenian in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buckley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
