Softball Recap: Vidalia Comes Up Short

Vidalia lost against Delta Charter back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Vidalia Vikings fell just short of the Delta Charter Storm by a score of 17-16.

Piper Weatherly was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring six runs and stealing Six bases. while going 6-for-6. Those six hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Seyfarth, who scored three runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.

Vidalia's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-8. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 12.67 hits in those games compared to only 3.13 in the others. As for Delta Charter, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vidalia will head out to challenge Bunkie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bunkie knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Vidalia likes a good challenge. As for Delta Charter, they will venture away from home to square off against Family Community Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Family Community Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Delta Charter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
