Recap: Young Americans Christian Eagles vs. Fideles Christian Rangers
If the Young Americans Christian Eagles were riding high off their 74-47 takedown of the Scholars Guild Academy Spartans last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Young Americans Christian fell 70-58 to Fideles Christian on Friday. Young Americans Christian has not had much luck with Fideles Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Young Americans Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Blunt, who scored 17 points. Christian Gibbs was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Fideles Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xander Lipinski, who scored 26 points along with five assists. Lipinski is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell McCollum, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Young Americans Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Fideles Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Young Americans Christian and Lanier Christian Academy will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fideles Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Dominion Christian at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Dominion Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
