Dynamic duo of McKy Peters and Conway Cummard lead Mesa to victory

Recap: Mesa Jackrabbits vs. Skyline Coyotes

The Mesa Jackrabbits came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Skyline with a sharp 65-40 win. Given Mesa's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Coyotes are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Mesa to victory were McKy Peters and Conway Cummard. Peters scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Cummard scored 20 points along with five assists. Cummard has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jarren Galarza, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joseph Fulkerson. Despite the final result, he scored eight points.

Skyline struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mesa racked up 13 assists.

Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Skyline, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Mesa will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Dobson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season. As for Skyline, they will head out on the road to take on the Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
