Basketball Game Preview: Coral Gables Cavaliers vs. Cypress Bay Lightning

The Coral Gables Cavaliers will square off against the Cypress Bay Lightning at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, Coral Gables was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-49 to Doral Academy. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cypress Bay can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They took down Plantation 56-42. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Colonels are ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cypress Bay's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Coral Gables, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Coral Gables might still be hurting after the 64-43 defeat they got from Cypress Bay when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can Coral Gables avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
