Baseball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

If Marshall was riding high fresh off their 10-1 takedown of Northview on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions lost 12-3 to the Terre Haute South Vigo Braves on Saturday.

Marshall saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton McGuire, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Marshall has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will welcome Mt. Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, they will face off against Covington at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Braves are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
