Baseball Recap: Borden's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

New Albany hit Borden with a four-run sixth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Braves came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 12-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 28, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Garrett Schmidt was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

With the defeat, Borden broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-7. As for New Albany, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Borden and New Albany are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Braves will square off against Henryville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Borden is facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for New Albany, they will face off against Floyd Central at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
