Softball Game Preview: Thatcher Eagles vs. Amphitheater Panthers

The Thatcher Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Amphitheater Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Thatcher has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Thatcher is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Tombstone on Monday. They came up short against the Yellow Jackets, falling 15-2.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Amphitheater took on Pusch Ridge Christian Academy on Monday. Amphitheater lost 19-4 to Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost three in a row.

Thatcher's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Amphitheater, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Thatcher took their victory against Amphitheater in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thatcher since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
