Preview: Sunset Knights vs. LaSalle Royal Lions
The Sunset Knights will head out on the road to take on the LaSalle Royal Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Sunset focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Saturday.
Sunset suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Westminster Christian, falling 48-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sunset has scored all season.
Bianca Pacheco was Sunset's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Pacheco also led the team in assists with two. She held things down on the boards with 15 rebounds.
LaSalle posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 69-8 win over Don Soffer Aventura at home. 69 seems to be a good number for LaSalle as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
LaSalle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ainoa Haliwa out in front who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Haliwa has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Melissa Carrasco, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Sunset and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for LaSalle, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.
Sunset lost to LaSalle on the road by a decisive 48-31 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Sunset avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
