Football Recap: Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Takes a Loss

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic came into this matchup off a tough 21-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Anclote Sharks by a score of 22-20 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hurricanes have suffered since September 30, 2024.

Despite the defeat, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Christopher Jacobs picked up 36 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Devin Schafer was a one-man wrecking crew For Anclote. as he rushed for 118 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 30 receiving yards. Those 118 rushing yards gave Schafer a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Anclote, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic will take on Discovery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Anclote, they will challenge Gulf at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
