Awaken Christian took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Indian Springs Thunderbirds. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 13-7 victory the Thunderbirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2018.

The team relied heavily on Cody Proud, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

Indian Springs' defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-1.

Awaken Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against Indian Springs: the pair will be back at it again later today.
