Mountain View has gone 3-0 against Skyline recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Both will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. Mountain View is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Mountain View came up short against Pleasant Grove and fell 58-47.
The losing side was boosted by Brennan Olsen, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Hair, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points and three steals.
Meanwhile, Skyline lost to Layton at home by a 62-47 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Lancers are ranked 15th).
Mountain View will have to contain David Rasmussen as he made an impact in Skyline's last game. He posted 15 points along with seven boards and three steals. Rasmussen continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Lindquist, who had six points and 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Skyline smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Skyline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mountain View has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Mountain View beat Skyline 69-61 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Skyline's Landon Shaw, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for Mountain View to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
