Softball Recap: Walnut Hills Eagles vs. Kings Knights

Walnut Hills extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They lost 14-1 to the Kings Knights. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 16-2 to the Knights when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Walnut Hills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Dollar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Kings, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Kings' side, Taylin Sexton made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sexton was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Leah Mitchener was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Coming up, Walnut Hills is taking a road trip to take on Clinton-Massie at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kings, they will be playing at home against Milford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
