Softball Recap: Mishawaka's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mishawaka had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints. The Cavemen have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Saints, too.

Lilly St. Clair made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. St. Clair was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexa Davis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Desiree Couvee, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Mishawaka's record now sits at 11-4. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Coming up, Mishawaka will look to defend their home field on Monday against Warsaw at 5:30 p.m. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they will take on South Bend Adams in a tournament on Saturday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
