Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Kuna's Winning Streak

Kuna dropped their record down to 11-8 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Centennial Patriots by a score of 3-2. The Kavemen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Bergan Overall was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Jackson Edwards made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Max Sperry was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

As for Centennial, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Centennial's side, Daniel Morrison looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Morrison has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Centennial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Korbyn Nielsen, who went 3-for-4 with one triple. Those three hits gave Nielsen a new career-high.

Kuna wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-4 defeat against Eagle on the 17th. As for Centennial, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-2 victory against Meridian on the 17th.
