            Basketball Recap: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. Pamlico County Hurricanes        
        
		
        
        
            Lejeune was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight  loss. They took a  blow against the Pamlico County Hurricanes, falling  65-20. While losing is never fun, the Devil Pups can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings  (they are ranked 551st, while the Hurricanes are ranked 95th).
 Scarlett McLean was Lejeune's leading scorer, having posted six points.   Madison McQueen held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
 Leading Pamlico County to victory were  Sydney Whitley-Reese and  Nya Clark.  Whitley-Reese  went 9 for 19  on her way to 20  points in addition to seven  steals and five  boards, while  Clark  went 10 of 16  en route to 22 points and five  steals. Whitley-Reese is  on a roll when it comes to  points, as she's  now  scored 15 or more in the last 16 games she's  played dating back to last season.  Kyliyah Barber was another key player,  putting up ten points along with five  rebounds and four  steals.
Lejeune's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Pamlico County, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
 Lejeune wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  contest,  a  63-32  loss against Southside on the 17th. Pamlico County has also already played their next  match (against East Carteret), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
