Baseball Recap: Williston Starts Season with Victory Against Branford

Williston gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They blew past the Branford Buccaneers 15-0. For the Red Devils, this counts as revenge for the 13-8 win the Buccaneers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Breeden Clemenzi, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Waylon Geiger was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Williston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Branford only posted an OBP of .294.

Branford now has a losing record of 0-1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williston will face off against Seven Rivers Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Branford, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
