Volleyball Recap: South Effingham's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

South Effingham had already won eight in a row and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Riverside Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since September 11th.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (60-53) South Effingham actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 13-25, 15-12.

Clara Vorel paced South Effingham's offense, picking up 15 kills. Vorel got some help from Leah Magana and her 23 assists. Vorel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Riverside's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Megan James Wingerter, who had 11 digs, and McKenley Noble, who had four digs and three aces.

South Effingham's victory bumped their record up to 31-9. As for Riverside, their defeat ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.

South Effingham has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Cartersville on the 27th. As for Riverside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Wade Hampton on the 30th.
