Football Game Preview: Northside - Pinetown Panthers vs. Wilson Prep Tigers

Northside - Pinetown is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Wilson Prep is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Panthers will challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northside - Pinetown's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last ten games.

Northside - Pinetown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past Bear Grass Charter to the tune of 43-6. With the Panthers ahead 36-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Northside - Pinetown had a senior duo take command as Chase Hewitt rushed for 56 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries and Sincere Columbus rushed for 94 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, Wilson Prep's offense rose to the challenge against a Pride defense that boasted an average of only 10.5 points allowed on Friday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 42-16 margin over KIPP P. The Tigers pushed the score to 32-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pride had little chance of recovering from.

Northside - Pinetown better keep an eye on Travon Usher. He was instrumental in Wilson Prep's win, rushing for 203 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 27 yards and one TD. They are 6-3 when Usher posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Wilson Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Tyquan Whitaker led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Ethan Nelson has been hot, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Northside - Pinetown's record is now 12-0. As for Wilson Prep, their record now sits at 7-5.
