Basketball Recap: Warsaw W Takes a Loss

Warsaw W suffered their biggest loss since December 10, 2024 on Monday. They took a blow against the Gilead Christian Eagles, falling 45-17. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Warsaw W saw an underclassman step up: freshman Gavin Gress posted eight points and six boards. Those eight points gave Gress a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Warsaw W smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Talan Blankenship was the offensive standout of the match as he went 7 for 9 en route to 18 points. Aden Wagner was another key player, putting up four points along with ten rebounds and five steals.

With the loss, Warsaw W broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-10. As for Gilead Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Warsaw W will challenge Gospel Haven Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th. Gospel Haven Academy will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Warsaw W surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gilead Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-44 defeat against Zanesville Christian on the 31st.
