Baseball Recap: Interboro Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Interboro came out on top against Academy Park on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Buccaneers put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 12-1 victory. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.

Austin Dean was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Interboro got a massive performance out of JJ Nelson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Nelson a new career-high. Evan Thomas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Interboro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Academy Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, Interboro and Academy Park will both be playing Chester the next time they take the field. The Buccaneers will head out to face the Clippers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Knights will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
