Flag Football Game Preview: Newport Harbor Sailors vs. Aliso Niguel Wolverines

The Newport Harbor Sailors will venture away from home to square off against the Aliso Niguel Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Aliso Niguel will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Newport Harbor extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Sailors blew past Marina, posting a 45-6 win. Considering the Sailors have won 11 contests by more than 19 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Scarlett Guyser, who threw for 146 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.5% of her passes, and also rushed for 65 yards on only seven carries. That's the most passing touchdowns she has posted since back in September.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Newport Harbor's defense and their six sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ava Mortensen. She is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Jocelyn DeTemple got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Aliso Niguel didn't have quite enough to beat Beckman on Monday and fell 34-32.

Aliso Niguel's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Newport Harbor, their victory bumped their record up to 22-2.
