Softball Game Preview: Barbourville Tigers vs. Cumberland Gap Panthers

Barbourville hasn't had much luck against Cumberland Gap recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Barbourville is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Bell County.

Meanwhile, Cumberland Gap fell victim to Anderson County and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mavericks. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Mavericks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Cumberland Gap's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Barbourville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Barbourville couldn't quite get it done against Cumberland Gap in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
