Baseball Game Preview: Saugus Centurions vs. Hart Hawks

For the second straight game, Saugus will face off against Hart. The Centurions will welcome the Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Saugus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Saugus barely beat Hart the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Centurions blew past the Hawks 9-1 on Wednesday. The Centurions have beaten the Hawks the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hawks has come to flipping the script.

Gavin Diaz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Saugus is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Matt Long was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Abraham Ramirez was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Saugus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.

The win got Saugus back to even at 10-10. As for Hart, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9-1.
